Platform

Congruent Calculations.

The audit-ready calculation platform that operates across the firm’s three analytical dimensions — Value, Risk, Capital. Routine engagements run at the Value foundation; sophisticated transaction work reaches into Risk; the deepest analytical positions run the full Value → Risk → Capital pipeline. Every calculation anchored to a reproducible control ID; every chain transparent and inspectable.

03 · What it does

One engine. Six productised Solutions.

The platform supports the firm’s full range of regulated calculation work — from individual case-level redress to scheme-wide bulk operations to forward-looking governance analytics under CP26/1. Each context runs at the appropriate stratum within the platform’s Value → Risk → Capital architecture.

04 · The CMC™ — every calculation auditable

One form factor. Three regulatory presentations.

Every engagement produces a Check My Calculation artefact — sealed, versioned, recipient-verifiable. Same convention across the firm's regulated work; different regulatory content by context.

Redress CMC
DISP App 4 (FCA)
Compensation tranches (primary, secondary, additional); benchmark, alpha, fee attribution; loss assessment.
Pension Sharing Order CMC
Pension valuation
Symmetric DB/DC valuations, methodology disclosure, and valuation-basis calibration to the specific matrimonial question where applicable.
Valuation CMC
TPR Funding Code (sponsor-side)
Sponsor-side pension liability valuation — fair-value pricing for buy-in / buy-out transactions and quantitative covenant articulation under the TPR Funding Code. One valuation discipline, applied through the firm’s Fair Value Framework, with sensitivity outputs.

The substantive claim. The CMC is not three different artefacts produced by three different processes — it is one form factor with three regulatory presentations, all generated by the same engine, all carrying the same control-ID convention. The recipient — regulator, auditor, court, scheme actuary, opposing expert, member's adviser — can verify any output independently.
05 · The My Congruent portal

The client-facing surface for the platform.

The portal is where most clients actually interact with the platform day-to-day. Two distinct functions: structured instruction-writing for engagement scoping — the firm’s mechanism for arriving at unambiguous instructions, used most prominently in the Pension Sharing Order Calculation Service — and per-engagement CMC access for delivered results. Per-engagement views, per-CMC access, historical calculation store, recipient-side control-ID lookup, audit-trail of edits.

  • Per-engagement view. Each engagement carries a portal record; calculation status, completion, and sign-off authority surfaced in one place.
  • Per-CMC access. Every CMC the firm issues is surfaced in the portal; downloadable PDF plus structured-data export for client systems integration.
  • Historical calculation store. Full retention of every calculation the user has access to. Useful for audit and re-run scenarios across multiple regulatory cycles.
  • Recipient-side control-ID lookup. A stakeholder receiving a CMC can be granted lookup access to verify the control ID is genuine and the published version is current. The independence claim is operational, not declarative.
  • 24/7 availability. With planned maintenance windows announced through the portal in advance.

The Congruent Calculations platform has been in production since 2018 — battle-tested across the firm's productised Solutions. Since launch, the firm has issued thousands of certified Check My Calculation results to clients across pension on divorce, redress, scheme funding, accounting, de-risking, and FCA-regulated compensation contexts.

Operations-attested track-record figures — engagement counts, CMC artefacts produced, calculation control IDs registered, platform uptime — are made available to institutional clients on request under standard NDA. The structure of what's published, the firm's quality and governance evidence, and the verification arrangement are at /calculations/track-record/.

Common questions

Common questions about the actuarial calculation platform.

Buyers come to the firm with several recurring questions about the calculation platform — what the actuarial software does, how it differs from a general-purpose pension calculator, and how the audit-traceability claim translates into the deliverable buyers actually receive. The answers are the same regardless of which Solution the platform is supporting.

What runs on the platform

One actuarial engine, six productised Solutions.

The platform is not a general-purpose pension calculator. It is a productised actuarial software environment that runs the firm’s six Solutions on a single calculation chain: redress under FCA DISP App 4, Pension Sharing Order matrimonial work, employment compensation calculations, bulk annuity sponsor-side analysis, sponsor covenant reading, and Value for Money assessment. One engine, one control-ID convention, one reproducible record per calculation.

Audit-traceability and Check My Calculation™

Reproducible calculations, verifiable by any qualified third party.

Audit-traceable means every input, every assumption, every intermediate step, and every output is recorded in a structured way that allows any qualified third party — regulator, skilled person, expert witness, opposing counsel — to reconstruct the calculation from the published record. Check My Calculation™ is the public-facing verification function: given a calculation identifier, the function returns the reproducibility record. This is the audit-traceability claim, operationalised.

Where pension and actuarial calculations sit

An institutional-grade alternative to spreadsheet calculation.

Pension and actuarial calculations across the redress, matrimonial, tribunal, and pension-valuation domains are traditionally produced in spreadsheets — bespoke for each matter, dependent on the calculator not making an error, hard to audit at scale. The platform is the institutional-grade alternative: the same methodology applied consistently, the same audit-traceability across every output, the same governance regime end-to-end. For buyers running high-volume programmes (past-business reviews, multi-case discrimination claims, BPA transaction analytics), the platform is the difference between calculation-as-craft and calculation-as-system.
