The firm in one scroll.
Congruent is an independent UK pension actuarial firm. Six productised Solutions, run on one calculation platform, with bespoke advisory work alongside. Senior-led from first conversation to final output.
Independent. Senior-led. Defensible.
An actuarial consultancy with a productised platform.
The firm serves corporate sponsors (CFOs, finance directors, sponsor advisers), regulated firms required to evidence redress or value-for-money, Independent Governance Committees and providers running the FCA Value for Money regime, family-law contexts (Single Joint Expert and party-appointed Expert work on Pension Sharing Orders), and employment-tribunal contexts where compensation amounts are themselves regulated.
The firm does not act as Scheme Actuary to any trustee board and does not provide trustee-side statutory funding work — trustees commission that from their Scheme Actuary. The firm’s structural independence from the trustee-side advisory chain is foundational to its commercial position, not a declarative arrangement.
Six Solutions. Four live, two in development.
Productised work is what the firm offers where the regulatory regime is settled or maturing, the calculation set is repeatable, and an off-the-shelf engagement shape genuinely serves the buyer. Each runs on the Congruent Calculations™ platform.
Pension Sharing Order
Calculations supporting matrimonial settlements in family proceedings, as Single Joint Expert or party-appointed Expert. Court-facing under APS X3 where required.
Read more → Live · 02Redress & remediation
DB transfer redress under FCA DISP App 4, and DC redress including esoteric and structured assets, for regulated firms remediating pension matters.
Read more → Live · 03BPA Fair-Value Pricing
An independent check of whether a bulk-annuity quote is consistent with the risk-neutral fair value of the scheme’s promise to members. A consistency assessment, not a price forecast.
Read more → Live · 04Employment-Related Compensation
Pension and salary loss analysis in employment claims. The firm is the first FCA-regulated actuarial firm authorised to provide this service.
Read more → Forward stack Forward stack · 05Sponsor Covenant Analysis
Covenant strength as an explicit economic-capital line of sight under the TPR Funding Code — what the scheme’s retained downside requires, set against what the sponsor can actually provide.
Read more → Forward stack Forward stack · 06Value for Money
A productised route through the FCA and TPR Value for Money regime under CP26/1, for IGCs and providers — the regulatory rating plus a welfare overlay.
Read more →BPA Fair-Value Pricing and Sponsor Covenant Analysis are accessed under the Pension valuations navigation grouping. The grouping itself is not a Solution — the two Solutions in the grouping are.
Bespoke advisory work alongside.
Where the question requires assembling or extending the methodology — rather than fitting an off-the-shelf shape — the firm runs bespoke advisory engagements. Senior-led, structurally independent, scoped per situation.
Sponsor Fair-Value Analysis
The firm’s principal sponsor-side bespoke engagement: the DB retain-versus-transfer decision on one comparable basis.
Expert Witness
Court-facing actuarial evidence under APS X3, with BSB direct-instruction licence where counsel instructs directly.
Transactions & corporate advisory
Pension-liability analysis within M&A and corporate-transaction contexts, where pension position materially affects transaction terms.
Regulatory engagement
Supporting regulated firms in dialogue with FCA or TPR where actuarial methodology is part of the conversation.
Bespoke modelling
Engagements that don’t fit a productised shape — novel valuation contexts, scheme-specific modelling questions, new product designs.
One platform behind every productised Solution.
The Congruent Calculations platform is the production system that runs the firm’s productised Solutions. It supports all six on the same methodological basis — the Fair Value Framework where applicable; the regulatory anchor specific to each Solution otherwise.
Each engagement produces a Check My Calculation™ artefact: a unique calculation control identifier the client can use to audit, reproduce, and reference the firm’s output, with a complete trail from instruction through assumptions to deliverable.
Senior-led from first conversation to final output.
First contact. The firm responds within one working day with whether it can take the instruction and what it would need to scope it. No pre-qualification questionnaire — the response itself is part of the scoping conversation.
One actuary, instruction to output. The same senior actuary instructed at scoping runs the analysis, signs the output, and remains available for direct conversation with the client, the client’s advisers, the auditors, counsel, and any regulator throughout the engagement.
Confidentiality and scope. Scope is set per engagement in writing before work begins; commercial terms are clear in advance. Engagements are carried out under appropriate confidentiality — through standard professional confidentiality, formal non-disclosure agreement, or solicitor-instruction privilege where the matter is Court-facing.
Structure behind every engagement.
FCA-authorised, Bar-licensed, ICO-registered, quality-assured under the Congruent Quality Framework, professionally indemnified. Each authorisation is a structural constraint on how the firm operates — and a structural assurance for the buyer.

The firm operates with structural independence from the parties whose products or positions its analysis assesses. No commercial relationships with bulk-annuity brokers; no insurer panel arrangements; no transaction-completion-linked fee structures. No Scheme Actuary appointments. No broking pipeline. No DC-provider commercial relationships. Independence on the questions the firm answers is structural rather than declarative.
Independent. Senior-led. Defensible.
